My name is Omobolanle Banwo Osadolo, and I would like to share my salvation story with you.

Almost 16 years ago, I was in a dark place. I was still grieving the loss of my mum, and happiness seemed impossible. Depression had taken its toll, and I yearned for an escape from the pain I felt. While religion wasn’t foreign to me, as I had attended church with my mum and occasionally joined my father for Muslim Eid programs, I still felt this emptiness and confusion. So, I knew I needed to know who God is and allow Him to reveal Himself to me, showing me the path I must take.

On my way home from university one day, I heard my friend Tope Akindele preaching about God. He spoke about the Holy Spirit, referring to Him as a person and explaining how the Holy Spirit can help us live better lives and guide us. I was interested in knowing more about this Holy Spirit, but I was too shy to ask questions.

When I got home that night, I waited until everyone was asleep and prayed. I asked God to send me His Holy Spirit because I could really use His help to navigate life. I continued praying even though I wasn’t sure if God was listening, at a point I cried but I kept praying, hoping He was. After praying for a while, something supernatural happened, I felt a soft breeze come in like a presence and it filled me and I started speaking in tongues. Before this encounter, I had never spoken in tongues in my life (Acts 2:1-5 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance ).

This was the beginning of a whole new adventure with God. He filled my heart with a kind of peace I can’t fully explain in words. I also became confident and assured about my future through His Word (the Bible). My challenges didn’t disappear overnight, but for every challenging situation I encountered, God helped me come out victorious ( 1 John 5vs 4-5 NKJV For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—[a]our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? ) I would pray about things and see Him answer them. It’s been almost 16 years, and God has never left me stranded. I still spend time with Him every day to pray and talk about the most random things, lol. God established me, He did not only draw me close to Him, but he blessed me with a career I could only have dreamed about. God blessed me on every side, He changed my story and I want everyone to experience Him the way I did.

Before I met God, I used to feel like my life was meaningless, and I thought I was going to struggle through life. I also had low self-esteem and felt like the ugliest person on earth, lol… All these things were obviously lies designed to limit me. But through the word of God, my mind was transformed, and I was able to see myself the way God sees me. The devil will tell you lies about yourself; he may say you’ve sinned too much or your sin is too great and there’s no redemption for you. He may even say God isn’t real because you prayed and didn’t feel anything. Everything the devil says is a lie; he doesn’t have the capacity to speak the truth. The truth is this: Jesus died for you on the cross of Calvary, and His blood can wash you clean if you can trust and believe Him.

Say this prayer below aloud to yourself and believe in your heart that God heard you. It’s as simple as that.

Dear Lord Jesus, I come to you as a sinner today, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose again from the dead. Today, I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my personal Lord and Saviour, please wash me clean and fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you God.

If you prayed this prayer, let me be the first person to welcome you to the body of Christ, God has filled you with His HolySpirit. The job of the HolySpirit is to guide you and be with you always. You are no longer alone.

John 16:13-15 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (14) He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. (15) All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

If you desire to speak in tongues, go to a bible believing church and ask any of the leaders to pray with you or just ask the Holy Spirit to fill your mouth as open your mouth to pray and trust that He will.

Make friends with people who can encourage you to pray and seek God more.
